Renuka Gitam

Vasiṣṭha Kavyakantha Ganapati Muni

goddess renuka

Obeisance to Sri Ganesha

  1. Victory unto Devi Renuka the Supreme Goddess whose Feet move on the crown heads of the Celestials!
  2. May the holy Feet of Renuka who is adored fondly in the Sahasrara grant me bliss.
  3. May, whatever it be – yagna or an ornament, that illumines the city of Kundalipura[1] – ever shine in resplendence in my heart.
  4. That content imperishable that shines in all subtlety on the Crown yields perennial bliss to my heart.
  5. May the Lotus Feet of the Primal Mother forever be in full-bloom in the lake of my heart.
  6. Oh Mother hailed by the Vedas! I remain at Thy Feet solely as Thy servitor. Naught else do I know.
  7. Attuned to the dust of Thy Feet every minute, Mother, my heart pulsates with joy, every thought being a speck of Thy remembrance.
  8. Worshipped by all the Vedas, O Mother, protect me who has clung to Thy Lotus Feet or dump me; but never shall I let go of Thee.
  9. Whosoever serves Thee, Mother worshipping Thy Feet is there aught for him to do to avoid suckling the breast of yet another mother?
  10. Day in and day out, O Mother, in solitude and in secrecy, by thought centered on Thee, blessed have I become. Naught else do I desire.
  11. The way Ganges shines on the crown of the One who vanquished cupid, O Mother Renuka, shines Thy compassion in my heart.
  12. Mother! Protect me, an ascetic and the primal servitor at Thy Feet, from flamboyance of pride.
  13. Mother of compassion great! Worshipped by those with merits earned and hailed highly by Indra.
  14. Why dost Thou spurn me, Thine own Son?
  15. Thou originless, shinest as Sat. Knowers of Tatwa are aware of Thee as the very form of Sat.
  16. O Mother, with glance brimming with compassion, knowers of Vedas hail Thee as Bliss embodied.
  17. Thou shinest as God Transcendent for adept yogis who by the awareness within, know Thee as the Mother who begot the world.
  18. Mother, who dwelleth in Kundalipura![2] Behold me as none other than Parasurama, Thine own son.
  19. Devi, Ears Thy miss not hearing anything and Thou art worshipped by celestials. If there be compassion in Thy Heart lend Thy Ear to the wailing of this son, Thine.
  20. Service at Thy Feet which alone is solely sought by this son of Thee has gone scarce. What is This (wonder) Mother?
  21. Oh Mother, the form of Chinnamastha! Singing Thy praise is what is solely begged of Thee by me and recompense, none do I need.
  22. Mother Renuka, Bestow on me first Thy look cool and ever full of compassion That like fish dart all over with grace.
  23. This will bless me with auspiciousness but will any ill befall Thee?
  24. Mother shining like the radiant Sun! I remain Thy servitor. May Thou, the denizen of Kundalipura shine on, Victorious ever!
  25. Mother nectar like are Thy Lotus Feet The entire world in its entirety is renounced by those established in those Feet of Thine.
  26. Mother Let Thy holy Feet keep moving in my heart. This is my prayer, rid of illness and conducive to good.
  27. Mother, hailed by snakes that adorn Thee as bracelets. Thou art the Sovereign Ruler of the celestial (Bhuvar-loka) world and the Mother of devas the denizens of that world. Mother! Protect me.
  28. Hymned by Ganapati, May Goddess Renuka, who embellishes the city of Kundalipura as its ornament by dwelling there, ever shine Victorious!

This completes Renuka Gitam, composed by Vasiṣṭha Kavyakantha Ganapati Muni[3]
