Aruṇai māmuni ramaṇar vāzhga Karuṇai kāṭṭum kandā vāzhga Tirumuga agakugait tiruvē vāzhga Uruaṟu varuiru sivamē vāzhga Great sage of Aruna Ramana, be blessed Showering your Compassion as Skanda, be blessed Shining pure in beauty inner cave, be blessed Come to remove the form, O’ Siva, be blessed Orumalar adanai oṇḍrāy āṅgē (5) Irumulai naḍuvana iruviral valattē Iruppāy purittu idaya meṇḍrē Poruḷadu tavamdinam uḷadāy vāzhga Bloomed in oneness, a flower enter Two digits to the right of the center Exists as I-I, Heart, it is called, Sense! Munnāḷ tandaikku muttiyin vaḍivam Oṇḍrām anda ōmena poruḷum Pinnāḷ annai bhatti paṇṇa Anbin vaḍivil aṇḍam vandu Tunbam tuḍaitta tūyavan vāzhga (40) Anbē otta aḻagē vāzhga Earlier Thou explained the meaning of OM To your father, as being as One, all its sum! Later, For your mother to pray, You Came to this world for her due! In time, removed all of her pain Adoring beauty as love, you reign! Vāymozhi mozhindu vāsagam ōdi (50) Ōynda manattai ōṇḍrāyp pārkka Mandira sebamum uḷḷē seydu Manda putti malarnda pinnē Manadait tōṭrum mūlam tannai Munaippāy pārttāl munnē tōṇḍrum (55) Oriḍam uḷḷam oṇḍrāy oḍuṅgi Pērillā ōrozhi perumān vāzhga With many thoughts coming out as speech Revive the tiring mind, as You teach Repeat mantras continuously inside Flower the mind, lowering the tide ‘Whence the mind comes from its source’, Carefully watching will guide one, a force! There is only One, all go to the same That big Light shines, with no name! Ānma kēḷvi ahdē uṇmai Tāndān eṇḍra tanmai vāzhga Tukkam sōgam tuvvum āsai (60) Sikki uḷvarum siṟumai taḷḷi Manattil kūrndu ānma visāram Tinamē pōdum tollai ellām Tāmē sellum tandāy vāzhga Nāmē nammil nāmāy vāzhga (65) Self enquiry, that is the only truth I-I is its nature, all else is untruth Miseries, never quenching desires and woes Smallness bubbling inside, ignoring all those Focusing the mind only in Self enquiry Day after day, all those bothers just flea After these distractions completely gone What remains is only real, just hold on! ‘nānē seyvēn’ nacciya agandai Tānē viṭṭu tānā yaṅgē ‘Summā iruvena’ umadu pōdam Ammā aduvē āḻam vāzhga Attuvi taseyal aduvē uttamam (70) Mutti nittam sattiyan vāzhga “I will do this”, speaks thus the ego See, and learn to free and let go “Just be quiet”, Thy words are like nectar O’Lord, that is deep with a different vector! Non dual action is the best of actions! Please grant the liberation, no factions Kēṭṭu pāḍik kaṇṇāy ninaittu Toṭṭu tiruvaḍi tudittu toḻudu Naṭpura naḍandu naṇḍrē seydu Eṭṭu patti engiṟa vaḻiyil (75) Unnil uḷḷa uṇmai uṇara ‘Ānma patti agattil tēḍu’ Navamē patti kanmam ñānam Tavamē tannil tinamum vāzhga Hearing, chanting, constantly pondering, Serving His lotus feet, worship offering, Prayer, Being a Servant, and as a friend Eight paths of devotion for one’s end Know the ultimate truth step by step! Ninth form of devotion in all its glory pep Is searching inside one’s Self, finding And realizing is staying as one binding! That is work, and non-work, that is devotion That is knowledge, so stay with no notion! Varuvadu aduvē varaṭṭum pōvadu (80) Sarugāy pōgum aduvē saraṇam Karumam tānāy aruḷāl naḍakkum Porumai eṇḍrāy guruvē vāzhga Whatever happens will happen, whatever Goes, will go like dried leaves, forever! Everything happens of its own accord Patience is the only answer you can afford! Thy words resonate everyday in our lives What an armor! Be guided, one arrives! Paktarin paktarāy unadu paktarin Pakkamē paṇiviḍai patti pāṅgil (85) Sutta sēvai seyyum uṟudi Nittam emakku nangu sellap Pittam tavirkkum muttanē vāzhga Attam pattar anaivarum vāzhga As a devotee of your devotees’ devotion Can’t wait to swim in your Grace ocean! To serve those devotees in all their needs Please give me the strength in those deeds! Day after day to keep the focus in that pursuit Remove the madness; Mind with no dispute Comes only through Your Presence direct! Bless all those devotees to become perfect! Pēya kandai peridāy niṇḍrāl (90) Māya manadu maṟaittu niṟkum Kāyam vaḷarum kāmam kūḍum Nāyāy sellum nayanda manattai Sēyāy emmai sēvit taruḷi Tāyāy vanda talaivā vāzhga (95) Ghost like wandering ego standing tall The reality will remain hidden, it’s a brawl! Body grows big, desires keep adding Mind wanders like a dog, slowly fading! Like a mother protecting her child to bliss Please save us falling in that deep abyss Suṭram yāvum suṭri iruppin Kuṭram kāṇāk kāriyam paṇittāy Māṭra maṭru maṟavā kavanam Pōṭri purittāl pugalē vāzhga Those friends and families surrounding No need to find faults in their sounding! Focus on our duty which is Self enquiry What a clear path, keep us from misery! Bhattar tunbam pārttu aṟuppāy (100) Mutti taruperu satti vāzhga Patti ōdiya pāṅgum vāzhga Nittam kākkum ninnaruḷ vāzhga Vāzhga kanda satti vāzhga Vāzhga Ramaṇa Bhagavān vāzhga (105) Vāzhga vāzhga Ramaṇa Bhagavān When in pain and suffering, no need to shout For you look after us, there isn’t a doubt You will liberate us from all these pains As long as we are devoted with no stains! That devotion is only discovering the truth Shining inside, bright and great in sooth! Be blessed for you are the force of real Bhagavan Ramana gives our soul meal! Sūriya oḷiyāy sutta ātmā Pāril vāzhum paramē vāzhga Vāzhga vāzhga anbē vāzhga Vāzhga vāzhga maunam vāzhga (110) Like a shining Sun, a great effulgence Light Has come to the earth to remove our plight! Your wisdom perfect spreads its rays! Your glance of silence sets us ablaze! Anbar vāzha Ramaṇar kavacham Inbam uykka iyaṭrum vaḍivu Ramaṇa dāsan ramittu Kamazhum mutti sīkkiram taravē. (114) Through your Grace, for devotees armor Ramana dasa to write this poetic armor, For your Grace is infinite, it’s present always Grant us your feet, and give your embrace!
